Yarn
Choose a yarn fiber that is strong like cotton, nylon hemp, or even jute.
The suggested yarn weight for this pattern is double knit, for the below-mentioned finished size,  but you can easily use a heavier weight for a slightly bigger finished item and a thinner weight if you are looking for a miniature bag.
You will need about 50 to 80m of yarn, depending on how deep you wish to make your basket and how long you decide to adjust your handle.

Crochet Hooks

A 4 mm / G-6 crochet hook is suggested for this basket type if you wish to have a stiffer fabric use a hook size half to one size smaller.

Color Indication

Color choice is completely up to you, the written pattern does indicate where color changes happen but does not specifically initiate a color.

Make the flowers

Make flowers with thinner yarn than of the basket is made of, for this example, the basket is made with a 4mm hook, and the flowers with a 3mm hook.

Start with a magic ring,

Keep the magic ringtail long enough as it is used to fasten flowers to the basket.

*Sc into magic ring, chain 2, 2dc into magic ring, ch2, repeat from * 4 more times, sc after last flower peddles, cut yarn and pull thru magic ring, pull the two tails to tighten the ring and tie tails to their back.

Make 6 flowers, more if you wish to make more, and add more flowers.

Make the handle.

Row 1

Chain 32, 2 hdc into 1st chain, 1 hdc into next 31 st(s) till the end of the row, 2 hdc into last chain st, continue along back on the bottom of the chain just worked, 1 hdc into next 31 st(s) till the end of the row,

Row 2

Join into the 1st of 2 hdc stitches from the row before, ch2 counts as first hdc, 1 hdc into the same stitch, 2 hdc stitches into next hdc. 1 hdc into the next 31 sts, until the last 2hdc from the previous row, 2 hdc into the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into the next 31 sts, st(s) till the end of the row, join with sl into starting ch, finish off color.

Finish off, work in ends, the handle is now complete.

Joining the handle.

Use a yarn needle and yarn and join one of the short ends of the completed handle strip to the top of the basket, with some simple stitches, finish off, and work in ends,  do the same for the other end of the strip, to the opposite side of the basket, finish off, and work in ends.

Optional: Add border around basket top and handle

Join yarn with a slip stitch into the second stitch from the handle on the basket rim,
ch2 counts as first hdc, 1 hdc into each stitch along the rim of the basket until the handle is reached,
continue the hdc stitches into each stitch up along the handle, until the rim of the basket has been reached,
1hdc back into the basket rim stitches, continue along until the starting ch2, join with slip stitch in staring chain, finish off, and work in ends.

Repeat this for the other side of the handle and basket rim.

This pattern is written and charted using standard US crochet terminology.

Techniques used:
The pattern starts off with a magic ring and is worked in the round,
in general, chain 1 is required after completing a round, when using the same yarn and color for the next round,
if it is your choice to change color, then in general, you would join with a slip stitch on top of the starting chain stitch after the last stitch is worked for the round.

Working in ends as you go is my best practice, but it's all up to you and your choice when completing a project.
