Easy Granny flower afghan square pattern includes one large flower granny square flower pattern perfect for any crochet projects like that require crochet flower squares like cardigans, crochet pants, crochet throw pillows, and pretty crochet bags. The Easy Flower motif is inspired by the flowers that grow in my native country, while the pattern example is worked up in the colors inspired by this majestic flower, one can easily work this pattern in any color of choice.

Suggested yarn for pattern.

Photo tutorial and square examples are made up of cotton yarn, this is only used as a suggestion, any yarn of your choice can be used. Lightweight yarn using a smaller crochet hook will make a smaller square, and heavier yarn using a larger crochet hook will result in a larger square.

Yarn Usage :

+- 500m / 545 yards to complete 3 to 4 large squares, depending on the amount of colors used per square.

Square size: 24 x 24 cm / 9 x 9 inches, based on using a crochet hook size of: 3.5 mm

Pattern Notes

The pattern is worked in the round with (RS) right side facing front.

Skills required

Understand the basics of working in the round.

Joining different yarn colors and how to end and finish rows.

Techniques used

Gauge: stick to the same yarn weight and crochet hook throughout making your squares, or your squares will not match up.

Working in ends, as you go will help you at the end when it comes to finishing the blanket unless you love spending a day at least to work on loose ends.

Pattern Instructions 

Round 1

Ch3 counts as the first dc st of dc2tog into magic ring, chain 2, work 7 x dc2tog, ch 2 into magic ring, join with sl into the top of starting chain stitch, ch1, don't finish off color.

( 8 x dc3tog, ch2, in the magic ring)

Round 2

Join new color, ch 3, counts as first dc, work 1dc in chain space, for first dc2tog, work one more dc st, to finish the dc2tog, chain 2, dc2tog in same ch-sp, *dc2tog, ch2, dc2tog into next ch-sp, repeat from * around, join into the top of start ch with sl, finish off color. 

( 8 x dc2tog ch2, dc2tog in ch-sp ) 

Round 3

Join new color in ch-sp, from round before, ch3 counts as first leg of 6dc-shell stitch, work 5 more dc sts to finish off 6dc-shell, 1 sc between next 2 dc2tog sts * 6dc-shell into the next ch-sp, 1 sc between next 2 dc2tog sts, repeat from * around, join into the top of stating chain st with sl, finish off color. 

(8 x 6dc-shell, 1sc sts in round)

Round 4

Join new color in sc st, from round before, 3dc, ch2, 3dc in sc st *1 sc in ch-sp, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, repeat from * around, join into the top of stating chain st with sl, finish off color. 

(8 x 3dc, ch1, 3dc, 1 sc sts in round)

Round 5

Join new color with sc st in ch-sp, from round before, 3dc, ch2, 3dc in sc st *1 sc in ch-sp, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, repeat from * around, join into the top of stating chain st with sl, finish off color. 

(8 x 3dc, ch1, 3dc, 1 sc sts in round)

Round 6

Join new color with sc stitch in 1ch-sp, after 6dc-shell, 1 sc into the same ch-sp, ch1, dc2tog, ch3, dc2tog in sc st, ch1 * 2 sc into the same ch-sp, ch1, dc2tog, ch3, dc2tog in sc st, ch1, repeat from * around, join into the top starting chain stitch with sl, finish off color. 

(8 x 2 sc . ch1, dc2tog, ch3, dc2tog, ch1,) in round

Round 7

Join new color with sc st in ch-sp, from round before, 12 dc st in ch-sp, * 1 sc in sc, 12 dc st in ch-sp, repeat from * around, join into the top of stating chain st with sl, finish off color. 

(8 x 1 sc, 12 dc sts in round)

Round 8

Join new color with in sc st after 12dc-shell, ch3, counts as first leg of, * dc3tog, ch3, dc3tog in sc st, ch1 skip 4 sts of 12dc-shell, 1sc, ch1, 1sc, ch1, 1sc in the next 3 sts, ch1 skip next 4 sts, repeat from * around, join into the top starting chain stitch with sl, finish off color. 

(8 x dc3tog, ch3, dc3tog, ch1, 1sc, ch1, 1sc, ch1, 1sc sts in round )

Round 9

Join new color with *1 sc in space before dc3tog set, 10 dc sts st in ch-sp, 1 sc in space after dc3tog, 4dc in next ch-sp, 4dc in next ch-sp, repeat from * around,  

join into the top starting chain stitch with sl, finish off color. 

(18 x 10 dc sts, 1 sc, 8 dc, 1sc sts in round)

Round 10

Join new color in first dc st of any10 dc-shell, ch2 count as first * 1 hdc in next 9 sts, sk sc stitch in between dc-shells, 1 hdc in next 8 dc sts, sk sc st, repeat from * around, join into the top of starting chain, finish off color. 

(8 x 10hdc, 8 hdc sts in round)                        Round 11

Join new color in first hdc st from round before, Ch 3 counts as first * 1dc st, in the next 3 sts, 1 hdc in the next 3 sts, 1 dc in the next 3 dc sts, repeat from * around, join with sl into the starting chain stitch, don't finish off color.

(16 x 3dc, 3 hdc, 3dc sts in round)

Round 12

Join new color in with sc in sc st counts as * 1 sl in sc st, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 1 hdc, ch2, 1 hdc in ch-sp, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, repeat from * around, join into the top of the starting chain, finish off color. 

(12 x 1 sl, 5 hdc, 1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc, 5 hdc, in round)   

Round 13

Join new color in BLO of first hdc st of any petal, ch3, counts as first * BLO, 1 tr into next 2 sts, 1dc into the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into next 2 sts, ch1, sk ch-sp, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 1tr in next 2 sts, skip over 1 sc st, repeat from * around, join with sl into the starting chain stitch, finish off color. 

(12 x 2tr, 2dc, 2 hdc,, ch1, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2tr in round)  

Round 14

Join new color in first dc st of any 9dc-shell, ch2 count as first * 1 hdc in next 9 sts, sk sc stitch in between 9dc-shells, repeat from * around, join into the top of starting chain, finish off color. 

(16 x 9hdc in round)                                         

Finish off square and work in the loose end.
