This 9-inch flower square can easily be made up into a crochet daisy blanket, or a large flower afghan. Liven up your living room space with a unique new sofa throw made in your favorite colors. The example is made up of five bright colors bright pink, dusty pink, light blue, cotton white, and mustard yellow, but the color selection is completely up to you. Using 5 skeins of yarn of 100m / 109 yards of yarn you can easily create 4 squares.

This pattern is written and charted using standard US crochet terminology.

Skills required
Understand the basics of working in the round.
Joining different yarn colors and how to end and finish rows.

Techniques used

Gauge:  stick to the same yarn weight and crochet hook throughout making your squares, or your squares will not match up.
Work in ends, as you go will help you at the end when it comes to finishing the blanket unless you love spending a day at least to work on loose ends.

The pattern is worked in the round with (RS) right side facing front.

Abbreviation

ch: chain
ch-sp: chain space
dc: double crochet
bpsc : back post single crochet
bphdc : back post half double crochet
fpdc: front post double crochet
fphdc: front post half double crochet
fpsc: front post single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
rep: repeat
sc: single crochet
sk: sk
sl: slitch
sp: space
st: st
sts(s): stitches

Special stitches

2dc-cluster / 2 dc tog
work 1dc stitch into stitch, yarn over and make second dc stitch into the same space, keep the last loop of dc on hook, you should have 2 loops on your hook,
yarn over and pull yarn thru all loops of the hook to create the dc-cluster stitch.

3dc-cluster 
work 1dc stitch into stitch, yarn over and make second dc stitch into the same space, keep the last loop of dc on hook, you should have 2 loops on your hook, 
yarn over and make third dc stitch into the same space, keep the last loop of dc on hook, you should have 3 loops on your hook,
yarn over and pull yarn thru all loops of the hook to create the dc-cluster stitch.

Start with a magic ring,

Round 1

Sc into magic ring, chain2, counts as first dc of 3dc-cluster, work 2 more dc sts to complete 3dc-cluster, ch3,*3dc-cluster stitch into magic ring, ch 3, repeat 6 more times, join with sl into the top of the starting cluster stitch, and finish off the color.
(8 x 3dc-cluster, ch3)

Round 2

Join new color around the top of cluster stitch, * FPsc around the top of cluster stitch, 5dc-shell into 3 ch-sp, rep from * around, join with sl into the top of FPsc and finish off color. 
(8 x 5dc(shell),1fpsc)

Round 3

Join new color around FPsc from round 2, chain 2 counts as FPhdc round FPsc, skip 2 sts, 6dc-shell into 3rd stitch of 5 dc sts, skip 2 dc sts(s), * FPhdc round FPsc, skip 2 sts, 6dc-shell into 3rd stitch of 5 dc sts, skip 2 dc sts(s), 
rep from * around, join with sl into the top of fphdc, finish off color.
(8 x 6dc-shells, 1fphdc)

Round 4

Join the new color around Fphdc from the previous row, chain 2, which counts as the first 1 Fphdc round Fphdc post, 
1 hdc into each of the 6dc-shell stitches, from the previous row,* 1 Fphdc round Fphdc post, 1 hdc into each of the 6dc-shell stitches, from the previous row, 
rep from * around,join with sl into the top of first Fphdc,  finish off color.

Square is now complete, work in ends, and block as normal.
