Yarn used for this project was 3 x 100% Acrylic / 100g ball Approx 215m / 235 yds per ball in color called Elk, and 1 x 75% acrylic, 25% cotton / 200g ball / approx 600m/656 yds in the color Cream
This pattern works well in a yarn-weight of medium. worsted, afghan, or aran yarn and you will have a soft fabric flowing crochet poncho, above mentioned is suggested yarn but any range of category 3 to 4 yarn, which is comfortable with the use of a 5mm/ H-8 crochet hook, will be well suited for this pattern.

How to do a swatch test for yarn weight ?
Gather your yarns, and select your hook, remember that the same hook size must be used the entire project If you have two yarns. of which one specified for a 4.5mm hook and one specified for 5mm, use the 5 mm hook.
Test your first yarn choice:
With your selected hook. Chain 10 sts, work 3 to 5 repeat rows of double crochet stitches, of the first yarn, don't finish of the patch, just remove the hook and place the patch down.
Repeat the process with the second selection of yarn.
Place the two swatches on top of each other, if the swatches match up, they can be worked together.

Measure the opening for the neck and determine where to start with shoulder
A : Place the large panel on a flat surface.
B : Fold large panel from left to right, the rectangle now forms a square.
C : From the folded over the lefthand side, count 82 sts, and mark with a stitch marker if needed.
Add shoulder panel to body panel
From stitch marker, or stitch 83, Join new color with slip stitch, and 1sc into space after stitch 83, this will now count as your, first dc stitch when following along with the pattern, and the turning leg of each odd row thereafter.

Finish off your poncho.
Finish off your project, by working a double row of half-double crochet alongside all the edges of the poncho.
Start with the neckline.
Join new color with slip stitch, and 1 sc into the first-row leg of the shoulder panel,
Round 1
Ch 2, 1 hdc into the same 2 ch-sp, 1 hdc into the 1ch-sp, repeat for neckline around, working 2 hdc sts into 2-spaces, and 1 hdc into 1 ch-spaces, around, until you reach the beginning ch 2, join with slip stitch into top of ch 2,
Round 2
Ch 2, 1 hdc into each of the hdc stitches worked in the previous round, until you reach the beginning ch 2, join with slip stitch into top of ch 2, finish off color, and work in tail.
Outer edges of joined poncho
Work 2 rounds around the outer edging of the poncho,
Round 1
Start in a corner, and work 2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc into the corner spaces, work
1 hdc into any 2 ch-spaces and 1 hdc any 1ch-spaces, around, until you reach the beginning hdc stitch, join with slip stitch into top of ch 2,
