Crochet Term: Yarn Over - Step by Step Guide

Yarn over means wrapping the yarn over the hook from back to front to create a loop for pulling through.

Step-by-step:

1. Bring the working yarn from behind the hook over to the front (counter-clockwise for right-handers).
2. Pull the yarn through the loop(s) on your hook as the stitch instructions describe.
3. Repeat the motion as needed — most stitches include one or more yarn overs.

Tip: The direction and tension of your yarn over affect stitch height and neatness.
