The crochet square pattern example is made up of six bright colors yellow, burnt orange, deep red, sea blue, light denim blue, and natural cotton white, but can be easily worked up in bright multicolored yarn of your choice and soon your living room space with get a facelift with a very decorative couch throw.

Using 6 skeins of yarn of 85m / 90 yards of yarn you can easily create 3 squares, switch out the colors and you will have 4 squares.

Large crochet blanket square pattern bright sunshine day

This pattern is written and charted using standard US crochet terminology.

Skills required
Understand the basics of working in the round.
Joining different yarn colors and how to end and finish rows.

Techniques used

Gauge:  stick to the same yarn weight and crochet hook throughout making your squares, or your squares will not match up.
Work in ends, as you go will help you at the end when it comes to finishing the blanket unless you love spending a day at least to work on loose ends.

The pattern is worked in the round with (RS) right side facing front.

Yarn weight : DK - Double knit yarn
Crochet hook size : 3.5mm
Yarn length required is approx : 600m / 545 yards to complete squares 3 to 4 crochet flower squares

Yarn length per skein : 100m / 109 yards

Abbreviation

bet: bet
BLO: back loop only
ch: chain
ch-sp: chain space
dc: double crochet
FPdc: front post double crochet
FPhdc: front post half double crochet

rep: repeat

Start with a magic ring,

Round 1

Ch3 counts as the first dc st, ch1, 1dc, ch1,  11  more times into magic ring, join with sl into the top of starting chain stitch, finish off color.
(12 x 1dc sts in the magic ring)

Round 2

Join new color in 1 ch-sp from the round before, ch3 counts as 1dc st, 1 fpdc around post of next dc st, *1dc in 1ch-sp, 1 fpdc around next dc post, repeat from*,  join with sl into the top of starting chain stitch, finish off color.
(24 sts = 12 x 1dc, 1fpdc )

Join new color in fpdc st from round before, 1 puff stitch into same stitch, ch1, skip next stitch. *1 puff stitch, ch1, skip next stitch,repeat from*,  join with sl into the top of first puff stitch, finish off color.

Round 4

Join new color in dc st from round before, ( the skipped stitch) 1 puff stitch into same stitch, ch1, 1fpsc around next puff stitch from round 3. *1 puff stitch in skipped stitch, ch1, 1fpsc around next puff stitch from round 3,  repeat from*,  join with sl into the top of first puff stitch, finish off color.
(24 sts = 12 x 1puff, 1ch, 1fpsc )

Round 5

Join the new color in 1ch-sp from the round before, Ch3 counts as first dc st, 1 dc into the same ch-sp, 1 fpdc around next puff stitch.* 2dc in 1chsp, 1fpdc around next puff stitch, repeat from*,  join with sl into the top of first chain stitch, finish off color.
